A guide for using the F1 Timing App out and about.

We thought with Bahrain fast approaching - yes its really only 3 days away! - we'd offer some tips for getting good service during sessions. The most important area we'll focus on is how to maximize your battery, and possibly boost connectivity. The App will work on GPRS - in fact we found its sometimes better that way. So if this option is open to you, and recharging is an issue try these steps.

1) Go to the settings page.

2) Select wifi, and turn it off - you can put it on, but if you haven't got wifi coverage, not much point having it on? Also wifi can pick up hotspots that need logins etc, which can cause connectivity difficulties. Wifi is good for home use however!

3) Brightness. Obviously this one is down to personal taste, but knocking it down will noticably improve your battery.

4) General->Bluetooth - turn this off too. You're not going to be making phone calls are you?

5) General->Network - Disable 3G. This probably has the biggest effect for those with 3G coverage. Its a real battery drain.

With a fully charged battery we can get about 3-4 hours without needing more. If anyone else has any good tricks we haven't thought of pass them on!

So enjoy, and please spread the word of this post to anyone that wants to get the most from their iPhone!

Enjoy and happy racing!
